Centre for Raptors
The lords of the skies soar high and circle the castle.
Falconry is one of the oldest forms of hunting. It is an intangible world cultural heritage that fascinates both the young and the old.
The foundation stone for one of the most famous bird of prey centres in the country was laid at Riegersburg Castle, in 1987.
Since then, an unparalleled show has been established and raptors have been bred with exceptional expertise. Visitors can not only experience native species, like the bald eagle and various falcons, performing their swift aerial manoeuvres, but also admire raptors from many other regions around the world. Visitors have to duck away almost every time an impressive raptor swoops over their heads. Such an experience leaves a lasting impression and encourages a return visit.
