Black Courtyard
This courtyard gets its name from the fact that the sun does not reach the ground.
The room through which you enter this courtyard was once the basement of the keep. The keep was the tall and strong main tower of the medieval castle.
The door at the northern end of the keep leads into the small chancery courtyard, which is open on one side. The “Black Courtyard” once served as a farmyard. The channel in the centre of the floor leads into the inner moat.
On the right, you can see the windows of the late Gothic chapel and a cellar below it. The building section on the left (with the former utility rooms) dates back to the 17th century and was built under the “Gallerin” on the steeply sloping rock. The small cistern was also built from the bottom up.
Above the entrance door, you can still see the water drain from the former manorial kitchen.
